No pain no gain, if you don't take risk, then you won't grow and won't be able to catch up with the fast changing world.However, we should take smart risk (those high return and low risk), and avoid those low return, but very risky.
In order to identity the smart risk, we can use the concern-control matrix, act for those high concern and high control first, then low concern high control.
It is advised to take "Act fast, learn fast" approach, to do some inexpensive trial to learn before large investment. Moreover, debriefing after each action is suggested. Four essential question must be answered in debriefing session:
1. What is the action target?
2. What is the result? (Met / Missed the target)
3. What is the cause of the result?
4. Follow up to the action, any improvement needed?
After all, document all the lesson learnt from the action, it is worth to keep record to avoid re-invent the wheel in the future.
